Raise your hand if you have reasons to believe that CJ McCollum of the Portland Trail Blazers is your social media MVP this offseason.
It looks like he may have a very strong case for the award, as the spitfire guard posted a widely trending tweet. Again.
As a response to McCollum's remarks that he doesn't like the thought of joining a stacked team like the Golden State Warriors to win a championship, a fan named Jennifer Williams (@ChocDelight1980) challenged the Blazer to win a playoff game first before saying anything. McCollum then wittingly responded with a hilarious tweet that trended worldwide in an instant.
Im trying Jennifer

Fans all over the world immediately took a liking to the 2016 Most Improved Player's statement, and a new meme was born.

Just replied to a co-worker named Jennifer with "I'm trying Jennifer" and started laughing and I had to explain it and now I'm the weird one

The crazy thing is this is just getting started. Fans have even been posting t-shirt designs of the “I'm trying Jennifer” tweet.
Somebody send me a “ I’m trying Jennifer “ t-shirt 😂😂😂

McCollum's journey to this social media success started with a heated exchange he had with Golden State Warriors star forward Kevin Durant on the former's own podcast. This came right after four-time All-Star DeMarcus Cousins joined the Warriors, a move that elicited mixed responses from players and fans around the league. KD bantered on the recent struggles of the Blazers, which McCollum just laughed at. Then the beef went on and has continued on Twitter.
Basketball fans currently don't have any NBA games to watch, so this good old-fashioned trash-talking is the closest to any action they can get. Hopefully, this translates to a new rivalry in the league and we all get treated to more competitive Blazers-Warriors games next season.
