Portland Trail Blazers veteran Carmelo Anthony turned back the clock on Saturday, as he scored eight straight points for his team in a crucial juncture in the second half.

Here is a quick highlight reel of a 36-year-old Melo in vintage form:

That was nothing short of impressive from the 10-time All-Star, and it was easy to mistake this as the Melo of old from the New York Knicks.

Despite Anthony's heroics, however, the Blazers still suffered a 116-108 defeat in Game 3 of this first-round series. Melo finished with 20 points on 9-of-20 shooting, along with six rebounds, two dimes, four steals, a block, and just one turnover in 42 minutes of play. This is easily Anthony's best game in the series thus far, especially considering his two-point dud in the Game 2 blowout loss. Nonetheless, Melo has proven to be an instrumental signing for the Blazers this season, and he has proven the same again on Saturday.

Portland had no answer for Anthony's good buddy LeBron James, though, as the MVP candidate top-scored for his team with 38 big ones on an efficient 11-of-18 shooting. LeBron also added 12 rebounds, eight assists, barely missing out on another triple-double performance.

This was a tough loss for the Blazers, who are now 2-1 down in the series. After winning Game 1, Portland has now suffered two straight defeats, and are now getting closer to suffering elimination in the first round. Game 4 is scheduled for Monday night, and another loss for the Blazers in that one will put them in a hole that they might just not be able to get themselves out of.
