Earlier Wednesday, the Portland Trail Blazers made a stunning trade with the Detroit Pistons. The Blazers landed Jerami Grant for a 2025 first-round pick. But apparently, the Trail Blazers are not satisfied with just Grant and are looking to wheel and deal further.

According to Yahoo Sports NBA Insider Chris Haynes, the Trail Blazers are in pursuit of the Toronto Raptors' forward OG Anunoby, potentially using the seventh overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft to get him.

That would be some get for Portland. It was believed after the Trail Blazers traded CJ McCollum away to the New Orleans Pelicans that the franchise was entering complete rebuild mode. But that at the same time seemed incongruent to the status of the team with Damian Lillard still on it.

Lillard still has a couple elite years left, more than likely. Jusuf Nurkic was having an outstanding season at center until a foot injury sidelined him the rest of the 2021-2022 season. Josh Hart, similarly, was beginning to take off after landing in Portland. He even dropped a career-high 41 points in March. But was later shut down for the season with injuries as well.

Despite the fact that Anunoby and Hart both play small forward, in the new position-less NBA, the Trail Blazers must feel they can make it work.

Anunoby is coming off a career year with Toronto. He posted a career high in points, assists and minutes with 17.1, 2.6 and 36 respectively.

If Portland was able to pull this deal off, their starting five all of a sudden looks formidable. Lillard at point, Anunoby and Hart at the two and three interchangeably, Grant at the four and Nurkic at center.
