High-fives have been a common practice for players and coaches not just in the NBA, but in almost all sports. It is a sign of congratulating someone for a job well done or even to motivate them despite a failure. While most people who raise their hand to receive one usually gets their gesture reciprocated, there are some who are left hanging and they are forced to come up with a unique way to avoid the embarrassment — just like Portland Trail Blazers guard C.J. McCollum.

So much for the science behind high-fives, though.

During McCollum's postgame interview with NBA TV's Dennis Scott, the most awkward moment of the night happened. The Blazers had just won their game against the Oklahoma City Thunder at Chesapeake Energy Arena with McCollum leading the charge for the visiting team. However, Scott seemingly had no intention of giving McCollum his well-deserved high-five.

But the Blazers guard played it cool and eventually decided to take matters into his own other hand.

Scott's antic brought a lot of laughs to the NBA TV crew, who covered the game between the Blazers and  Thunder.

The former Most Improved Player and his team had the last laugh on the night as they came away victorious. What's even more impressive was they were able to extend their current winning streak to three games now even without Damian Lillard, who nursing a calf injury.

C.J. McCollum finished the game with an impressive stat line of 27 points, three rebounds, seven assists, and a steal. And of course, he got some love back from Scott at the end of it all.
