Portland Trail Blazers big man Hassan Whiteside was ready to use his fists after Memphis Grizzlies center Jonas Valanciunas threatened to throw the ball at him.

Whiteside spiked a follow-up slam over Valanciunas during the Grizzlies' 111-104 win over the Blazers on Wednesday. Whiteside slightly nudged Valanciunas and the latter didn't seem to like it.

As a result, the Lithuanian big man sought revenge by appearing to want to throw the ball at Whiteside. However, the Blazers center was not having any of it and immediately put his fists up and dared the Valanciunas.

Good thing the referee was quick to get in between the two before any serious fight could ensue.

In Memphis' win, Brandon Clarke led the way with 27 points. Super rookie Ja Morant had 20 points and nine assists, while Jonas Valanciunas himself had a monster double-double with 12 points and 18 rebounds.

The Blazers were led by CJ McCollum's 23 points, followed by Anfernee Simmons' 22 and Damian Lillard's 20 points and 10 assists. For his part, Hassan Whiteside ended up with 16 markers, 11 boards and two dimes.
