JR Smith has long been known for his on-court gaffes and boneheaded mistakes, but he played up that reputation during a pickup game this offseason against the Portland Trail Blazers star guard CJ McCollum.

As you can see, this star-studded game also featured rapper J. Cole, but the major highlight was Smith getting the ball on the wing, gripping it with two hands and refusing to dribble as he cruised his way to the basket for an easy layup.

Of course, there are traveling rules in place to prevent such an act occurring, but Smith was making a point that he believed McCollum had traveled on a previous possession. To make his point, Smith made sure to make his travel the most blatant it could possibly be.

Smith, aka Henny God, has been know in his career to make some rather inauspicious choices, whether it be dapping up Jason Terry on the sidelines while the game was ongoing or nabbing a crucial offensive rebound in Game 1 of the NBA Finals and not knowing what the score was, leading to this iconic image in NBA history.

While the stakes were far, far lower in this game and Smith was playing it for laughs – as J. Cole’s reaction would entail – this move is certainly fitting of a player who has been known for wacky antics in his career.

As of this juncture, Smith remains unsigned for the upcoming 2019-20 season, though who knows if any contending team will want a well-traveled (pun intended) veteran for the home stretch.
