The rumor mill has been swirling when it comes to Freddie Freeman's free agency. He is the most talented and popular player on the open market and almost every fanbase would love to have him on their team. He was originally expected to re-sign with Atlanta, but the team traded for Matt Olson on Monday, likely signaling the end of Freeman's time with the Braves. Other notable suitors include the Yankees and Dodgers, but one surprise team has emerged in the Freeman sweepstakes, per Jon Morosi on Twitter.

Morosi shared that the Toronto Blue Jays have had conversations with Freeman and his camp. He also stated that Toronto has “serious interest” in the all-star first baseman. Freeman holds dual-citizenship of the U.S and Canada so moving to Toronto would not be an issue for him.

The Blue Jays already signed starting pitchers Kevin Gausman and Yusei Kikuchi in an effort to bolster their rotation. The Jays most pressing need was pitching entering the off-season since their offense was already amongst the best in baseball. But they play in an extremely competitive American League East division so enhancing your greatest strength is not a bad idea. Freeman would project as a middle of the order bat in an elite lineup. His presence would likely send Vladimir Guerrero Jr. back to third base which is the position he played during his rookie campaign.

Signing Freeman will not be easy as he is the hottest commodity in free agency right now. But Toronto seems to be all in on Freeman and will do everything in their power to make him a Blue Jay.
