Borussia Dortmund saw Erling Haaland leave the club this summer after he signed for Premier League giants Manchester City. The move wasn't a surprise, as Haaland had long been expected to depart Dortmund during the transfer window, but now the team is trying to pin down a suitable replacement for the Norwegian goalscoring machine. According to Fabrizio Romano, Borussia Dortmund is preparing a significant bid for Ajax star and Champions League standout Sebastien Haller.

Romano reports that BVB has opened talks by submitting an official €33 million bid for the services of Haller. The fee would also feature some add-ons and clauses that would bring the value even higher. With Dortmund desperate to replace the top-tier goalscoring of Haaland, they're turning to someone who proved his worth on Europe's biggest stage last year, despite coming off a shaky season at West Ham the year prior.

In 2021-22, Haller scored 21 goals and added 7 assists in the Eredivisie, the first division in the Netherlands. His true heroics came in the UEFA Champions League, however, where he scored 11 goals in 8 matches in what was an incredible run from the Ivory Coast international. Dortmund was clearly impressed with his showing in the Champions League last year, enough so that they see him as a suitable replacement to Haaland.

It remains to be seen if Ajax plan to accept the bid for Haller, but he could be a great fit for Dortmund, having already proven himself in the Bundesliga in the past during his two-year stint with Eintracht Frankfurt, during which he scored 24 goals.
