Heading into his second year in the league, Los Angeles Lakers forward Brandon Ingram has the weight of expectations to show some significant improvement.

Much of this is centered around his scoring output, which he's set to hold a workout with former Lakers great Kobe Bryant at some point this offseason, according to Mark Medina of the Orange County Register.

Ingram wants to diversify his scoring with drills on spot-up shooting drills, as well as working off pick-and-rolls, from the elbows and from the block. After offering positive reviews with the Lakers’ strength and conditioning coaches both past (Tim DiFrancesco) and present (Gunnar Peterson), Ingram plans to add more unspecified amount of strength through continuous weight training. And Ingram remained committed to his anticipated workout with former Lakers star Kobe Bryant that will focus on learning how he watches film, scouts teams and studies player tendencies.

“Everything we do on the basketball court is mental,” Ingram said. “It’s nothing physical.”

Following his retirement after the 2015-16 season, Bryant helped many star players in the league such as Kawhi Leonard and Gordon Hayward, who both experienced significant upticks in their offensive production this past season. In fact, Hayward earned his first All-Star Game selection while Leonard finished ninth in the league with a career-high 25.5 points per game.

The 20-year-old has already shown some flashes of promise in the one Summer League game that he did participate in by scoring a game-high 26 points. He displayed the ability to score from various spots on the floor.

Team president Magic Johnson had recently stated that it would be disappointing if Ingram didn't score more 20 points per game next season. This would make the former second overall pick in last year's draft the team's top scoring option. It will be interesting to see what kind of impact the workout with Bryant will have on his play next season.
