Brandon Ingram wants to play for “organization that wants” him
There is always talk at this time of the year about each team’s preferences and needs that they plan to address in the draft, and occasionally we hear about teams that a player may or may not want to play for.
Brandon Ingram worked out for the Lakers last week and had a chance to sit down with reporters to answer a few questions about his state of mind, what he thinks he needs to do to be successful starting his NBA career, and where he would prefer to play.
From the LA Times:
It doesn’t matter at all. Of course I want to go to the organization that wants me and I want to develop in this league the best way I can.
After his workout with the Lakers, Ingram revealed what he planned to show during the time he spent in Los Angeles.
I wanted to show my determination and how I’m self-driven. Just trying to work as hard as possible on this court, and trying to show a little character outside the court. Showing exactly who I am, and trying to get a great feel for them.
Ingram believes he can be a versatile big in the NBA, and he expects to play different positions as he develops, because his size will allow him to do just that. He works out for the Sixers this week, but maintained that everything was great in Los Angeles and that the organization felt like a family to him.
That will be important to Ingram wherever he is, because he wants to be a part of a team’s present and future. If he keeps the right attitude, he has all of the tools he needs to be successful.
You see a lot of championships and great players coming through here. As a kid, you dream of just being in a great organization and making your own brand. So coming into Duke, I had a goal to try to be a national champion. That didn’t happen, but I wanted to be a great player there. And whatever organization is my next step, I want to be another great player there
