The Atlanta Braves are rolling, towering over their peers with an 87-45 record — the best in the league. One reason behind their dominance has been the excellence of Ronald Acuna Jr., an incredible slugging threat at the dish and an elite presence on the basepaths. And on Thursday night, with the Braves facing another powerhouse in the Los Angeles Dodgers, a team that's been stellar in the month of August, Acuna took his incredible play to a different stratosphere.

During the top of the second inning, Acuna hit a grand slam to give the Braves a 5-1 lead over the Dodgers. And in doing so, he hit his 30th home run of the season, accomplishing a historic feat in the process. The 25-year old right fielder became the first player in MLB history to hit 30 dingers and steal 60 bases in a single season, becoming the founder of the 30 HR-60 SB club.

Ronald Acuna Jr. has simply been remarkable for the Braves in 2023. In the aftermath of an injury-marred 2022, Acuna set his sights on a bounce-back season, and he has accomplished that in such a convincing manner. He has gotten his nascent career back on its superstar track, and the Braves have benefitted from it immensely.

Per Fangraphs, Acuna has been the fourth-most valuable position player in the entire MLB, leading the charge for a stacked Braves team. The hope now is that he continues raking with the postseason beckoning, and the Braves being in an incredible position to make some noise in the playoffs and win their second World Series in three years.
