When D'Angelo Russell's current contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves expires in the summer of 2023, the All-Star guard will have made $140,343,478 in NBA money, per Spotrac.

Russell entered the NBA in 2015 with the Los Angeles Lakers. He was the No. 2 overall pick of the 2015 draft. The lefty made $5,103,120 during his rookie season and averaged 13.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game for the Purple and Gold.

D'Lo earned $5,332,800 in his second and final season with the Lakers. L.A. President of Basketball Operations Magic Johnson decided to trade the youngster to the Brooklyn Nets in the summer of 2017, citing leadership and maturity issues as the reason for moving on from Russell.

In his first campaign with the Nets, D'Angelo Russell made $5,562,360. The former Ohio State star averaged 15.5 points and 5.2 dimes. He made $7,019,698 the following season and played in his first All-Star game. Russell not only put up 21.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 7.0 assists during the regular season, but he also set himself up for a nice payday in restricted free agency.

While he wanted to re-sign with the Nets, though, Russell and his camp soon learned that Brooklyn was trying to sign stars Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and DeAndre Jordan, which meant D'Angelo was most likely headed out the door.

In a surprise turn of events, D'Angelo Russell was traded to the Golden State Warriors as part of the Durant sign-and-trade deal. In the process of the trade, Russell signed a lucrative four-year, $117 million contract.

So while he was bummed about leaving Brooklyn and getting traded again, D’Angelo Russell was no doubt happy to get that generational money.

Every pundit knew the Russell era in Golden State was going to be short, though. That's why it surprised no one when the Dubs traded the point guard to the Timberwolves for Andrew Wiggins at the 2020 trade deadline.

Russell was now headed to his fourth team, but Minnesota had his close friend in Karl-Anthony Towns waiting for him.

Before the 2019-20 season was suspended due to COVID-19, D'Angelo Russell was set to make $16,494,322. He'll earn $28,649,250 in 2020-21, $30,013,500 in 2021-22 and $31,377,750 in 2022-23.
