The Denver Broncos had arguably one of the more talented rosters in the entire NFL last season. However, their offense could not get out of their way because of the quarterback play. That led to the massive trade for future Hall of Fame QB Russell Wilson.
The Broncos offense should go from pedestrian to lethal in 2022. As if Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton and Tim Patrick were not enough, Denver got more good news from the wide receivers room Wednesday.
Broncos wide receiver K.J. Hamler is reportedly ahead of schedule on his recovery from an ACL and hip injury. Hamler was hurt in Week 3 last season coming down for a catch. He tore his ACL and his hip on the play, both requiring surgery.
The Broncos 2020 second round pick out of Penn State has 35 catches for 455 yards and three touchdowns over the first 16 games of his pro career. Those numbers might not sound like much, but considering he was always the fourth and sometimes fifth option in the passing game with a limited quarterback, helps put that into perspective.
Hamler certainly flashed some upside in his rookie season. As the team's likely fourth receiver in 2022, he adds talent and depth to Wilson and the Broncos passing attack.
They already boast one of the better running back tandems in the NFL. Javonte Williams and Melvin Gordon both rushed for over 900 yards last season. Both of them are also very good catching passes out of the backfield, making this offense extremely dangerous.
Denver's defense is expected to be one of the better units in the NFL as well. The only question is how will this team fare against the stacked AFC.
