The Denver Broncos season hasn't gone very well. They're 2-5 through seven weeks after an embarrassing 30-6 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday Night Football.

They're expected to respond by making some moves. According to Mike Klis of 9News.com, that includes trading star wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders.

This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Literally just last season, the Broncos traded away another star wide receiver. Last year it was Demaryius Thomas. Now they might be moving on from someone else that's been with the team for quite some time.

On the year, Sanders has 30 receptions for 367 yards and two touchdowns. Those numbers are great. However, they aren't the best on the team.

In fact, Sanders is second on the team in all three of those categories. Courtland Sutton leads the team in all three with 36 receptions for 564 yards and three touchdowns. Sutton (24) is also eight years younger than Sanders (32).

That makes him the clear future of the position for Denver. With a young quarterback in Drew Lock learning at the moment, they could turn into an excellent pairing.

Meanwhile, at 32, Sanders' prime might be past him. By the time the Broncos are ready to contend again, he could likely won't be the impact player he is now.

Therefore it makes sense for Denver to capitalize on his strong season so far. They can use his value to get back a young player or a draft pick. Then they can use those are part of their building blocks to continue recreating their identity.

This is Sanders' sixth season with the Broncos, and it's really starting to look like it could be his last.
