The Cleveland Browns finally moved on from Baker Mayfield, trading him to the Carolina Panthers Wednesday. In return, the Browns landed just a conditional fifth-round draft pick. That's a far cry from the overall top pick used for the embattled quarterback.

With Mayfield moving to Carolina after his fourth season, he joined JaMarcus Russell and Jeff George as the only players drafted #1 overall (in the Common Draft Era since 1967) and not last more than four seasons with their original team.

Russell was taken as the top player in the 2007 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders. To this day, he is considered one of the biggest busts in NFL history. Jeff George, on the other hand, had a relatively successful career. He was taken number one by the Indianapolis Colts in the 1990 NFL Draft. He would eventually play for the Falcons, Raiders, Vikings, then-Redskins, Seahawks and Bears. He finished his career with over 27,000 passing yards and 154 touchdown passes.

Baker Mayfield, meanwhile, came out blazing to start his career. He led the Browns to their first playoff appearance and win in almost 20 years. But over the last couple of seasons, things soured in Cleveland. The broken marriage with Odell Beckham Jr. certainly did not help his situation. But even after he left for the Los Angeles Rams, Baker Mayfield still struggled.

Mayfield dealt with a rash of injuries last season, likely hampering his abilities. Nevertheless, the Browns went and traded for Deshaun Watson. Things only got worse from there for Baker. Now he finds himself near the basement of the NFC.
