Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes have been compared a lot this offseason, and they will probably be compared for most of their career. This season there is one spot that Hall of Famer Cris Carter has an advantage and it has nothing to do with his play, it has to do with the Browns defense.

There is no doubt that the Browns have a better defense and that should take some pressure off of Mayfield, but last year Mahomes was able to overcome the Chiefs defense struggles for most of the year.

Earlier this offseason another Hall of Famer Brett Favre had high praise for both Mayfield and Mahomes and said that they are two that most remind him of his play.

“There’s no question that the sky is the limit for Baker,” Favre told Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon-Journal. “And, yeah, I think his style of play, and I’ve heard the same thing about Mahomes, and I agree with both, that their styles of play — if you had to pick a former player — would certainly match up to my style.”

They are both guys who aren't afraid to take chances, and they also have high drives to win and will do anything to help their team reach the ultimate goal. The AFC used to have the rivalry between Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, but it's a new era, and maybe it will be Mayfield against Mahomes for many years to come.
