The Cleveland Browns signed rookie safety Grant Delpit on Wednesday, making him the last Browns 2020 draft pick to ink a deal, according to the team.

Delpit, who played his collegiate football at LSU, was selected by Cleveland in the second round (44th pick overall) of the NFL Draft back in April.

The 21-year-old arrived at LSU in 2017 and immediately made an impact, registering 60 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, an interception and eight passes defended in his freshman campaign.

Delpit then showed marked improvement the following year, racking up 74 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, five picks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and nine passes defended. He concluded his tenure at LSU by recording 65 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, a couple of sacks, a pair of interceptions, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and seven passes defended in his junior campaign, helping the Tigers win a national championship in the process.

The Browns were one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL this past year.

Due to a busy offseason in which Cleveland landed Odell Beckham Jr. and several other key talents on both sides of the ball, many had the Browns pegged as Super Bowl contenders heading into 2019.

Instead, Cleveland won just six games and missed the playoffs entirely as the team failed to gel. The Browns' miserable campaign resulted in the firings of head coach Freddie Kitchens and general manager John Dorsey. Cleveland hired Kevin Stefanski and Andrew Berry as their respective replacements.

The Browns have not made the playoffs since the 2002-03 campaign, representing the longest active drought in the NFL.
