The Cleveland Browns will once again enter the offseason with serious questions concerning their quarterback situation. The Browns currently possess the first and fourth overall pick in this year's draft, which will put them in prime position to land a promising QB prospect at that position.

According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com in a recent Q&A, the front office is planning on going the quarterback route with the top pick in the draft. However, drafting a QB No. 1 apparently won't stop them from also trying to acquire a veteran quarterback as well.

The Browns will acquire a veteran quarterback such as an Alex Smith and likely start the season with him. They will also probably draft a quarterback No. 1 overall and let him learn behind the veteran for awhile.

Apart from Smith, Pro Bowler Kirk Cousins will also be available this offseason. Cousins is expected to entertain some huge contract offers on the open market if the Washington Redskins are unable to hammer out a lucrative deal with him. Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs reportedly have interest in moving on from Smith in favor of second-year quarterback Patrick Mahomes II.

If the Browns are able to acquire a proven quarterback ahead of the 2018 NFL Draft, the team will have a plethora of options to choose from with the first overall pick in USC's Sam Darnold, Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield, Wyoming's Josh Allen, and even UCLA's Josh Rosen. Each of these players could be the eventual starter that could be groomed over the next couple of seasons.

Cleveland could also look to move down if they feel that the quarterback they desire will still be on the board a few selections later. It is a highly beneficial position that could help turn around the franchise from the potholes that have plagued them for more than a decade.
