Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry was one of the best wide receivers in football in 2019, and he did it all with a bum hip.

Landry was named to the Pro Bowl for the fifth consecutive season after hauling in 83 receptions for 1,174 yards (with a career-high 14.1 yards per reception) and six touchdowns.

However, the former LSU star revealed after the season he played the entire year with a bad hip, and eventually underwent surgery in February.

Landry provided an update on his rehab process on Wednesday. The 27-year-old said while the coronavirus pandemic has offered some complications in terms of the amenities available for rehabilitation, he is still expecting to be ready by August.

Landry also said this is a “crucial time” for him to regain strength in his hip, adding, “The healing process is kind of done.”

The Browns would love Landry to be fully healthy by the start of training camp, especially given nearly all of their offseason has been geared at improving the offensive unit.

Cleveland signed former Atlanta Falcons tight end Austin Hooper to add another pass-catching weapon alongside Landry and Odell Beckham Jr.

Moreover, the Browns have made a number of upgrades to the offensive line. Cleveland signed free-agent right tackle Jack Conklin and also selected former Alabama OT Jedrick Wills in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

All of these moves are meant to supplement quarterback Baker Mayfield, who took a step back last year after an outstanding rookie season in 2018.

Landry remains a huge part of the offense, and the Browns need him on the field in 2020. The five-time Pro Bowler seems to think he can be even better this year, pending he gets through this “crucial time” first.
