Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield was an absolute disaster against the Green Bay Packers on Christmas, throwing four interceptions in a 24-22 loss that dealt a brutal blow to the Browns' playoff chances. Mayfield knows he was terrible, but Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski is sticking with his quarterback.
After the loss, Stefanski declared that Mayfield will remain the starting quarterback for the rest of the season, per ESPN's Jake Trotter.

This shouldn't really come as a surprise given the primary backups are Case Keenum and Nick Mullens. However, there are certainly going to be plenty of questions about Mayfield's status for 2022. The Browns quarterback has been talking about a contract extension with the franchise, but Cleveland has to be having some reservations about that given how disappointing this season has gone.
Mayfield has battled through a ton injuries this season, which is at least a somewhat reasonable excuse for his performance. Still, after leading the Browns to the playoffs last season, the team was hoping for so much more from the former No. 1 pick.
Against the Packers after coming off the reserve/COVID-19 list, Mayfield completed 21 out of 36 passes for 222 yards, two touchdowns and those four interceptions, including the game-sealing pick as the Browns were trying to drive for a game-winning field goal. On the season, the 26-year-old has thrown for 2,825 yards, 15 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 13 games, good for a mediocre quarterback rating of 86.1.
Cleveland is now 7-8 on the season, which has them in last place in the AFC North and 13th in the AFC. Those playoff dreams are pretty close to dead after this loss, but the Browns aren't eliminated just yet and Mayfield can still make a statement to end the season if he plays well.
