The Cleveland Browns are not concerned about the playing status of Baker Mayfield for their Oct. 27 matchup with the New England Patriots. However, he did miss his second consecutive practice due to a hip injury and didn't participate in stretching or calisthenics as he did on Tuesday, according to Nate Ulrich of Akron Beacon.

After practice on Tuesday, head coach Freddie Kitchens stated that there is ‘no doubt' that Mayfield will play against the Patriots. The bye week is expected to play a key role in allowing Mayfield to rest and prepare for a matchup with the reigning Super Bowl champions.

“He’ll be in better shape physically and he’ll be in a better place mentally too,’’ Kitchens said, via Cleveland.com. “We’ve got to get him ready to play the last 10 games.’’

“He is tough, man,” Joel Bitonio said, via the team's official website. “He does not want to come out of the game and that is credit to him as a player, as a person and as a leader. It is just who he is, and you knew that before that.

“You do not need to see him toughing it out. Obviously if you cannot do it, do not be out there. He thought he could play, he was fighting through it and I give him all of the credit. He took a weird hit and he keeps fighting for us. He has had some bad luck on some of the throws this year and stuff, but he keeps going out there and trying to will us to victory.”

There is plenty of time for Mayfield to prepare for the Browns' next game. A bye week appears to have come at an ideal time given how their next matchup is against a defense that has been the most dominant in the league so far this season.
