The 2021 NFL trade deadline is inching closer and closer, as it's set at 4 p.m. ET this Tuesday. Among the most intriguing names that have been floated as a potential asset on the move is Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., but sources have told Dianna Russini of ESPN that the possibility of him getting traded ahead of the deadline is low, considering the attention he's getting from other teams.
The Cleveland Browns have no plans on trading Odell Beckham Jr. by today’s trade deadline, per sources. I was told there haven’t been any offers that would make sense for the organization.
Beckham is struggling to produce for the Browns this season. The hype and promise he brought with himself to Cleveland when he was traded to the Browns by the New York Giants back in 2019 have not fully manifested themselves since 2020. Beckham played just seven games in 2020, as his season at that time was cut short by injury.
The former LSU Tigers star has also just played in six of the Browns' eight games. In the times when OBJ is on the field, he's barely looked like a game-changer that he was during his Giants days. He has yet to touch 100 receiving yards this season despite being the team's leader in targets. Then again, he's not been 100% healthy, which certainly is contributing to another down year in Cleveland.
