The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have ushered in some significant changes to their roster and coaching staff this offseason. Linebacker Devin White is among the slew of new faces that will be tasked with major roles early on.

The Bucs put an emphasis on filling their voids on defense through the 2019 NFL Draft. According to Greg Auman of The Athletic, White is hoping he and the rookies can help lead a potential resurgence in the 2019 NFL season.

“We’ve gotten close a lot,” White said. “I think that’s the main reason for the rookie player engagement. We’re just trying to be the team that helps change it around. Every year, you have a new set of rookies come in, and it’s all about the mindset they have. We’re focusing on getting better. … We’re going to come back and try to be impact players for the Bucs.”

It is encouraging to see that White is seemingly embracing the prospect of being the rookie class that turns this franchise's fortunes around. He will presumably be tasked with leading the youth movement after being taken with the fifth overall pick in the draft. There is no question about his talent following a decorated career at LSU. Regardless, he is expected to make an immediate impact on this rebuilding Bucs defense in 2019.

White is not the only rookie that will have an opportunity to make his presence felt early on. Tampa Bay used their next three picks to beef up the secondary with the addition of cornerbacks Sean Murphy-Bunting and Jamel Dean, as well as safety Mike Edwards. It is clear that the Bucs are hoping that all the changes to the defense can balance out their solid efforts on offense.
