The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made headlines by bringing Bruce Arians out of retirement to make him their new head coach. He made it clear that his first order of business will be surrounding quarterback Jameis with a stronger supporting cast.

It appears Arians' comments have helped put Winston at ease. According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, he is happy to have the confidence of his coach:

“It means a lot to me, man,” Winston said. “And that’s just how he is, he stands behind his players and I’m happy our team gets to see that side of him. And I just can’t wait to get in the building and work with him.”

It is encouraging to see that the two are clearly already hitting it off. The Buccaneers had already committed to Winston as their quarterback for the 2019 NFL season. It seems Arians was more than happy with that decision. He had also added that he will not make Winston and backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick interchangeable like they have been in the past.

Winston has shown plenty of promise at times with his tremendous arm talent. Unfortunately, his inability to take care of the ball has had a huge impact on his overall performance. Of course, his struggles can be somewhat attributed to the lack of talent around him. There is no question that Tampa Bay already has a bonafide No. 1 receiver in Mike Evans, however, they may need to focus on revamping their offensive line and establishing a consistent run game next season.
