The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are bringing in Todd Bowles as their new defensive coordinator, per Trevor Sikkema of the Pewter Report.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had hired Bruce Arians as their head coach on Tuesday. After the Arizona Cardinals had hired Kliff Kingsbury, the Buccaneers pulled the trigger and signed the former Cardinals head coach to a four year deal with a fifth-year option.

Arians had retired last year, but it seemed to just be a hiatus for the former two-time coach of the year.

Bringing Bowles on his staff is just another addition to a hand-picked staff in Tampa Bay, including Harold Goodwin as run game coordinator and offensive line coach, Byron Leftwich as pass game coordinator, and Clyde Christianson as quarterbacks coach.

Bowles was the head coach of the New York Jets for four years. In that time, he was extremely disappointing after his first season, as he lost 33 games in the past three years and the team seemingly continued to regress over time.

Bowles will bring his defensive prowess to Tampa Bay under Arians.

It was originally rumored that he might replace Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio if he was hired by another team. It seems he will be remaining in Chicago for the near future, as NFL teams are looking for an offensive-minded coach.

The Jets are still looking for their own head coach, as their top candidate Kingsbury decided to sign on with the Cardinals.
