Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo took to his Instagram account to write a heart-warming letter to honor his late father, Charles Antetokounmpo:

“It’s been a year daddy, so many things have happened since the day you left for a better place and I know you been watching down on us with a smile just like the one in the picture. I think about you every single day and I miss you very much but September 29th is not going to be a sad day in my calendar but a day that I cherish what a great father and role model me and my brothers have in our life. I love you very much. Your son Original”

Charles Antetokounmpo unfortunately passed away last year due to a heart attack, just before the start of the 2017-18 NBA season.

The Greek Freak looks to have used this as motivation to fuel his 2017-18 campaign as he took another monumental leap into NBA superstardom.

Antetokounmpo averaged to 26.9 points on 52.9 percent field goal shooting, 10.0 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 1.4 steals in 75 games. He was an All-Star and was named to the All-NBA Second team for the second consecutive season.

However, the Bucks as a team did not make strides, as they just finished 7th in the Eastern Conference standings by the season's end. They were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs against the Boston Celtics in a lengthy seven game series.

September 29 is a day that Giannis Antetokounmpo will remember forever, and seems to be a day that adds more fuel to his fire. It's just unfortunate for the league that this particular day comes just around the corner before every NBA season commences.
