The Milwaukee Bucks have decided to waive former NBA Slam Dunk champion Gerald Green just days before the start of the regular season, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical.

Green may perhaps be the biggest surprise of today's tidal waive of cuts with the season right around the corner. Most players not making the cut today don't have near the NBA experience the 10-year veteran Green does, but for some reason he was seen as not a very good fit in Milwaukee.

Green saw his minutes drop more than almost every last season with the Boston Celtics. He appeared in 47 games, averaging 5.6 points, 1.8 rebounds and shooting 35.1 percent from three in 11.4 minutes a night. He was hardly a part of the rotation when the games mattered most.

At 31 years old, Green seemed like a decent pickup for the Bucks this summer, possible a player who could add some outside shooting and athleticism to an interesting roster.

But now it's clear that the Bucks' depth on the wing was too much for Green to make the cut, as Milwaukee is already set with Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jabari Parker, Khris Middleton, Tony Snell, Rashad Vaughn and rookie D.J. Wilson.

The Bucks also let go of Brandon Rush, Gary Payton II and Joel Anthony earlier today.

Green becomes an intriguing name as a free agent now. He was a double-digit scorer off the bench not long ago in his career, and could serve a decent option for another team out there.
