The Milwaukee Bucks are waiving guard George Hill, but he may not be gone for long, as Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium says that the Bucks are working to re-sign him.

Milwaukee acquired Hill from the Cleveland Cavaliers in a three-team trade back in December. Hill had an $18 million contract for 2019-20, but only $1 million was guaranteed until July 1, so this decision was always expected.

In 47 games with the Bucks, Hill averaged 6.8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists over 20.4 minutes per game while shooting 42.8 percent from the floor, 28.0 percent from 3-point range and 81.5 percent from the free-throw line.

In spite of his underwhelming numbers, his play improved late in the season and he was terrific in the playoffs, as he registered 11.5 points, 3.5 boards and 2.8 assists across 26.3 minutes a night while making 53.4 percent of his field goal attempts, 41.7 percent of his long-distance tries and 81.8 percent of his foul shots through 15 postseason contests.

Hill, who played his collegiate basketball at IUPUI, was originally selected by the San Antonio Spurs in the first round (26th pick overall) of the 2008 NBA Draft.

He spent the first three seasons of his career with the Spurs before being traded to the Indiana Pacers for the rights to then-rookie draft pick Kawhi Leonard during the summer of 2011.

The 33-year-old then went on to spend five seasons with the Pacers, enjoying the best stretch of his career and helping lead Indiana to a couple of Eastern Conference Finals appearances in 2013 and 2014.

Since then, Hill has played for the Utah Jazz, Sacramento Kings and Cavaliers before arriving with the Bucks earlier this season.

He owns career averages of 11.2 points, 3.2 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game.
