On Wednesday, the Milwaukee police department issued a statement addressing the disturbing incident that happened earlier this year involving Bucks rookie Sterling Brown.

Brown was tased and arrested back in January in a Walgreens parking lot, and while he was not charged with anything (he originally was, but charges were dropped), the experience he went through at the hands of the authorities was something that did not sit well with a lot of people, including those from the Bucks organization.

Following the said statement by Milwaukee police, the Bucks released their own in which they did not hold back from expressing their anger and disappointment over the police’s behavior while also offering their full support for Sterling Brown.

Via the team’s official website:

The abuse and intimidation that Sterling experienced at the hands of Milwaukee Police was shameful and inexcusable. Sterling has our full support as he shares his story and takes action to provide accountability.

Moreover, the Bucks, through the statement, made it clear that police brutality is a serious issue that should be constantly talked about and addressed regardless if a celebrity went through such an upsetting experience.

Unfortunately, this isn't an isolated case. It shouldn’t require an incident involving a professional athlete to draw attention to the fact that vulnerable people in our communities have experienced similar, and even worse, treatment.

Brown was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers last year before they traded him to Milwaukee. It’s unfortunate for the former SMU standout that his rookie year would likely be remembered more for this incident more than his play on the court. He averaged only 4.0 points ion 54 games for the Bucks in the 2017-18 campaign.
