The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been put in a tough position with starting quarterback Jameis Winston facing a three-game suspension for actions involving allegedly groping a female Uber driver back in March 2016.

According to Ian Rapoport of The NFL Network, Winston has been officially given the multi-game ban after he has decided not to appeal the league's ruling. In response to that, the 24-year-old has put out a statement in response to the suspension that is in place to start the 2018 season.

These comments from Winston give off the admission of guilt that he may have conducted himself in that manner in the incident in question. It is now another questionable decision made by him that has put the Buccaneers in a tough position with their face of the franchise being involved in a disappointing situation.

The suspension could have been much heftier with initial reports suggesting he had agreed to a plea deal that struck it down from six games to just three. This could have been a larger punishment that could have put the team in a bigger bind to begin the season. Instead, backup Ryan Fitzpatrick will likely be called upon to start the first three games of the season against the New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles, and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fitzpatrick had made three starts where he won twice last season due to a shoulder injury to Winston. In six games played, he had thrown for 1,103 yards on a 58.9 percent completion rate along with seven touchdowns to three interceptions. This could have a significant impact on how the season unfolds for the Bucs with the schedule starting off in a difficult manner against three playoff teams from the previous year.

Nonetheless, this places even more scrutiny on Winston as his future in Tampa Bay may be more uncertain as he's only under contract through the 2019 season where he will make $20.9 million.
