The Chicago Bulls' marquee acquisition this past offseason was certainly DeMar DeRozan. But one of their less-heralded moves, drafting Ayo Dosunmu in the second round of the draft, may pay off the most. The rookie point guard has become a key contributor for the Eastern Conference's top seed.

After a stellar career at the University of Illinois, the Bulls drafted Dosunmu 38th overall. The rookie can do just about everything Chicago needs of him. His versatility is especially helpful to a playoff team with veteran guards Zach LaVine and Alex Caruso dealing with injuries.

Dosunmu capped off a 15-point, 14-assist game against the Indiana Pacers with a vicious slam dunk that secured the Bulls' win.

Billy Donovan revealed that Dosunmu's dunk was a play call he decided on. He said that he trusts his rookie, who backed up his coach's confidence in him by posting a career-high assist mark and clinching the win. Before the game, Donovan chatted with Dosunmu about how he is learning from his mistakes, a sign that the 22-year-old truly has the trust and confidence of his coach.

In 48 games and 24.3 minutes per game this season, Dosunmu is averaging 7.9 points, 2.7 assists and 2.6 rebounds while posting a field-goal percentage of 53.0 and a 3-point percentage of 42.7. His ability to contribute on both sides of the ball has been huge for the Bulls. The potential he has, even at a somewhat old age for a modern rookie, is impressive.

In Dosumu, the Bulls found a gem late in the draft. As Chicago keeps depending on him, he will continue to shine.
