Former Chicago Bulls forward and current NBC Sports TV analyst Kendall Gill says the Windy City franchise should have signed Derrick Rose in free agency last summer and paired him with Zach LaVine.

Rose had interest in coming back to the Bulls but the franchise signed Tomas Satoransky instead. It turned out to be a mistake by Chicago.

Before the 2019-20 season was suspended due to COVID-19, Rose was the best player for the Detroit Pistons, as he was averaging 18.1 points and 5.6 assists. Satoransky, meanwhile, was only putting up 9.9 points and 5.4 assists for Chicago.

Gill says if the Bulls can somehow acquire Rose, the team would have a feared backcourt once again.

“And I thought that the Bulls should have re-signed Derrick this year, instead Derrick’s up in Detroit,” Gill told Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson of Heavy. “If Detroit is playing .500, Derrick Rose makes the All-Star Team. Just imagine what he would be here in Chicago teamed up with Zach LaVine? Can you imagine that backcourt? I mean pick your poison with that one.”

Plenty of Bulls fans wanted the team to bring Rose back last offseason. LaVine needs another explosive scorer next to him since it doesn't appear Lauri Markkanen is that guy. Opposing defenses can just load up on LaVine and force the other players on Chicago to step up.

If the Bulls have Rose and LaVine to work with, their offense would improve tremendously. LaVine was averaging 25.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists for Chicago in the 2019-20 season. On the other hand, while Rose isn't MVP Rose anymore, he's still one of the best point guards in the NBA.

The Bulls have a new man running the organization in Arturas Karnisovas. Maybe he'll try and bring Rose back home via trade whenever the 2020 offseason begins.
