Back before the 2021-22 NBA season, the Chicago Bulls thought they were on the verge of becoming one of the top teams in the NBA. They pulled off two sign and trade deals for Lonzo Ball and DeMar DeRozan to go alongside Zach LaVine. It hasn't quite worked out though as Lonzo Ball has suffered injury woes during his entire Bulls tenure thus far. Ball took a major step recently as it was revealed via Julia Poe of The Chicago Tribune that he will begin running in January and that he is pain free.

Part of what has delayed Lonzo Ball's return from injury to the Bulls lineup has been the constant pain he had been experiencing. As per Poe, Bulls head coach Billy Donovan believes Ball's most recent procedure worked as he is no longer experiencing that pain.

When healthy, Ball had been one of the best point guards in the NBA. He was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. He played two seasons for the Lakers before being traded to the New Orleans Pelicans as part of the Anthony Davis trade.

Ball spent two seasons with the Pelicans before being shipped in a sign and trade to the Bulls. He last played during the 2021-22 season when he suited up in only 35 games. He averaged 13.0 points per game, 5.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.8 steals with splits of 42.3 percent shooting from the field, 42.3 percent shooting from the three-point line and 75 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
