Nikola Mirotic's new contract may have come later than he expected but now he can breathe a huge sigh of relief, as he knows he will stay with the Chicago Bulls for at least another year. He recently signed a new deal for two years, worth $27 million, with the right to veto any trade in the first season.

During the team's Media Day, the 6-foot-10 forward was visibly very happy now that he has secured a new deal. He also shared that he has put in a lot of work inside the gym, as he gained 23 pounds since the end of last season.

The development in his physique will help him compete better against heftier opponents that play the same position as him. However, he will also need to get used to playing with his new built, as it's downside is losing some of his quickness and ability to blow past fellow big men now that he's heavier. Known to be a shooter, who can also attack the basket when necessary, Nikola Mirotic is expected to work closely with the Bulls' trainers and coaching staff in order to use his weight gain to his advantage.

The Bulls are now in rebuild mode, having traded Jimmy Butler on draft night, and recently reaching a buyout with Dwyane Wade. It's now up to Mirotic to repay the trust his team has showed him, especially this coming season, where he will most likely play a bigger role.
