The Chicago Bulls reportedly want at least a second-round pick in return for veteran center Robin Lopez, according to Malika Andrews of ESPN.

Lopez is on an expiring deal, and with the Bulls in rebuild mode, they really don't have a need for him, especially now with rookie big man Wendell Carter Jr. starting and playing more minutes than Lopez.

The Bulls are working to get at least a second-round pick in a trade for Lopez and his $14 million expiring contract. But there have also been rumors of a possible buyout as the Feb. 7 trade deadline approaches. If teams sense that Lopez will be bought out, there's less of an incentive to give up a draft asset before the deadline.

Robin Lopez has appeared in 36 games this season for the Bulls. The 30-year-old is averaging 5.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists per contest. He's shooting 51.2 percent from the field, 28.6 percent from beyond the arc and 70.0 percent from the free-throw line.

Lopez has been frustrated with the lack of playing time he has been receiving, but the seven-footer has been around the league long enough to understand the nature of this business. Chicago should be able to get some type of value for Lopez from a team that is need of rim protection and front-court depth.
