After four seasons with the Chicago Bulls, Lauri Markkanen has failed to live up to the expectations that came along with being a 7th overall pick. Even with two stars around him in Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic, Markkanen hasn't been able to produce at the level expected.

He officially hits free agency this summer and there's a growing belief the Bulls will move on from their former first-rounder. Markkanen averaged a career-low 13.6 points this season but did shoot 40% from downtown.

Nevertheless, it's likely we see Markkanen in a different uniform later this year. He already voiced recently that he wants to play for an organization that values him as a starter, which the Bulls currently do not.

According to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, the Finnish sharpshooter wants to play alongside fellow Europeans Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis in Dallas.

The Mavs have lots of cap room in order to put together a deal for Markkanen and he could add some shooting depth for a team that wasn't very productive from long range. But, his skill set is similar to Porzingis, so it's still up in the air if Dallas would actually want to bring in the Bulls forward.

Cowley also mentioned the Knicks as a possible landing spot for Lauri Markkanen. While they're about to begin a playoff run, New York also possesses ample cap space and is expected to be very active in the free-agent market this summer.

There are definitely options for Markkanen, but it seems pretty likely that his days in a Bulls uniform are coming to a close.
