Chicago Bulls shooting guard Zach LaVine isn't planning on competing in the Slam Dunk Contest, according to NBA reporter Oliver Maroney.

LaVine wasn't named to the All-Star team when the reserves were announced on Thursday.

On Friday, LaVine spoke to Bulls reporters about his All-Star snub and if Aaron Gordon’s dunk contest entry will motivate him to participate in the contest as well.

If LaVine really isn't planning on doing the dunk contest, Bulls and basketball fans as a whole will be disappointed. LaVine, who is a two-time champion in the event, has completely recovered from the ACL tear he suffered during the 2016-17 season when he was with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The 24-year-old can fly with ease and would have probably put on a show for Bulls and NBA fans in Chicago.

More than three decades have passed since Michael Jordan defeated Dominique Wilkins in the 1988 slam dunk contest in The Windy City. It would have been cool to see LaVine and Gordon have their rematch in Chicago.

In 51 games this season for the Bulls, LaVine is averaging 25.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists. The high-flyer is shooting 44.0 percent from the field, 37.7 percent from beyond the arc and 83.0 percent from the free-throw line.
