The Arizona Cardinals have reportedly requested permission to interview current Los Angeles Rams quarterback coach Zac Taylor for their vacant head coaching position.

Arizona chose to fire former head coach Steve Wilks on Monday after it went just 3-13 in his first season on the job.

That means that the team will conduct a coaching search for the second straight year, and this time around, the Cardinals' front office is certainly hoping to find the right fit.

And it sounds like they're already putting together a list of candidates, which includes Taylor, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport:

Taylor is in his first year as the Rams' quarterbacks coach after serving as the assistant wide receivers coach for the team last season.

His previous NFL coaching tenure was with the Miami Dolphins, where he served as a quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator before moving into the same position at a college job with Cincinnati.

He's only 35 years old at this point, and with franchises around the league always looking for the next up and coming coach that could emerge onto the scene, it's easy to understand why he may be a candidate for various jobs.

The Cincinnati Bengals are also reportedly expected to interview Taylor for their job, with the team firing head coach Marvin Lewis after 16 seasons.

His success with the Rams is certainly going to garner some attention, and it may not be all that surprising if he winds up landing one of the many available jobs this offseason.
