The Arizona Cardinals sit atop the NFC with a 10-2 record, and their talented roster is close to getting another big boost. The Cardinals announced Thursday that running back Chase Edmonds is one of three players designated to return from injured reserve.

This means Edmonds can return to practice and potentially be activated for Monday night's showdown against the Los Angeles Rams, who sit in second place in the NFC West with an 8-4 record.

Edmonds suffered an ankle injury in Week 9 against the San Francisco 49ers and was then placed on injured reserve. James Conner has performed admirably with Edmonds out, but the Cardinals are more dangerous with that 1-2 punch in the backfield.

On the season, Edmonds has 76 carries for 430 yards and a touchdown in nine games. While those raw totals aren't all that impressive, he's averaging a whopping 5.7 yards per carry. Furthermore, the running back has 30 catches for 211 yards.

Arizona is coming off a relatively easy 33-22 victory over the Chicago Bears in Week 13, which featured the returns of Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins to the fold. Conner had 20 carries for 75 yards in that game and also hauled in a touchdown reception. Conner has 14 total touchdowns this season for the high-powered Cardinals offense.

Monday night's game should be a lot of fun to watch. Both Arizona and Los Angeles boast explosive offensive attacks. If Edmonds is able to play, that's just one more weapon the Rams will have to worry about.

Buckle up.
