Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is convinced he could play football and baseball in the same year.

Murray was selected in the first round by the Oakland Athletics in June 2018 but decided to play one more year with the Oklahoma Sooners football team. After playing his last season with the Sooners, he decided he wanted to pursue a career in football and was drafted first overall by the Cardinals.

Murray said before last year's Super Bowl that he wishes he didn't have to decide on what sport to play. Now that he has played a year in the NFL, he thinks he could handle both.

I think I could,” Murray said Thursday, via Bob McManaman of the Arizona Republic. “Athletically, I think, yeah, I could do it. I’ve been playing both my whole life. I would love to add that to the resume.”

Murray said he is focused right now on Cardinals football, but he still wishes there wasn't so much pressure on people to stick to one sport.

“I don’t understand why in sports they try to marginalize it,” Murray said. “They try to make you pick one and I get it, but we’ll see. I think it would be fun. Right now, though, I’m just focused on football.”

The A's still hold Murray's rights, so if he does decide he wants to start playing baseball again, it would be in Oakland or their minor league system.

It's hard to imagine the Cardinals would be on board with their franchise quarterback playing baseball during the summer, though.
