The Arizona Cardinals have continued to trend south this season after dropping six of their first seven games of the year that was topped off by an embarrassing 45-10 loss at home against the Denver Broncos last Thursday.

This has subsequently led to Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Peterson to push to ask for a trade prior to the deadline later this month, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Peterson has spent the first eight seasons with the franchise where he has established himself as one of the premier cornerbacks in the league. He has earned this reputation over this career behind seven Pro Bowl selections and three First-Team All-Pro nods. He has been a huge bright spot on the field this season that has provided the secondary a strong source of stability. Arizona has struggled tremendously on that side of the ball currently ranks 16th against the pass while being 21st with 7.6 yards per pass attempt allowed, and 29th with an opposing 69.1 percent completion rate.

He has plenty to offer on the table at this point of his career and could be a cornerstone piece for another team to build around in their secondary. This should fetch a huge haul in return for Peterson for the Cardinals to help further the rebuilding process for the franchise. It may see several teams that are looking to contend to push to make a trade for him over the coming days as he is one of the top players at his position that could make a major impact.

Meanwhile, this speaks to how disastrous the 2018 season has quickly become for Arizona that it has led to their best defensive player to want out of the franchise in order to compete for the playoffs and Super Bowl. There should be a resolution to this situation in the coming days.
