The St. Louis Cardinals had a disappointing 2023 MLB season. The Cardinals had a record of 71-91 and found themselves at the bottom of the National League Central standings. Naturally, St. Louis missed the playoffs. However, Cardinals baseball fans have something to get excited about. One of St. Louis' most promising prospects expressed his desire to improve and contribute to the team. Victor Scott II enters the offseason with a huge chip on his shoulder.

The Cardinals have hope for the future in Victor Scott II

St. Louis drafted Scott from West Virginia in the fifth round of the 2022 MLB Draft. Scott has been known for his defense and plate-running ability, but now he wants to take himself to another level. In a recent interview, Scott acknowledged the questions about his offensive ability before asserting that he desires to improve his hitting.

“Going into the offseason training, that's something I kind of took and was like…I'm going to prove to everyone that, look, I'm not just a speed guy who can play defense. I can also hit. I am not just a one-dimensional player,” Scott said, per the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

In his first full season after the 2022 Draft, Scott boasted a .304 batting average. He also finished with the second-most hits in the MiLB. Clearly, he has the offensive upside.

The Cardinals can use Scott's work ethic and mentality to push their team to greater heights. As the baseball season comes to a close, one thing is for sure. Terry Scotts II is driven to be the best MLB player he can be.
