Three NBA Championships, four NBA MVP awards, 14-time NBA All-Star and one of the five greatest players to ever play the game—yet the greatest day of LeBron James's life has nothing to do with basketball.

The excitement LBJ is currently showcasing regarding the opening of his I Promise School in Akron, Ohio on Monday is beyond anything he's accomplished on the NBA hardwood.

“The jitters before the first day of school are real right now!!! Tomorrow is going to be one of the greatest moments (if not the greatest) of my life when we open the #IPROMISE School. This skinny kid from Akron who missed 83 days of school in the 4th grade had big dreams … ”

James, 33, has clearly entered a fresh stage of his NBA career.

The I PROMISE School will educate 240 of the Akron Public School District's most academically at-risk third and fourth-graders during its first year. On Monday, to celebrate the opening, the newest Los Angeles Lakers star will be on hand to celebrate the opening in Akron, Ohio.

The school combined with his move to L.A. (mainly due to his sons' increasing hoops opportunities) signals a clear change in James's professional state of mind. While NBA Championships remain the goal, family comes first and, based on his Sunday sentiments, so does giving back to the Akron community.
