Despite possessing one of the most loaded rosters in the East, Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens dispelled the notion that teams can win off talent alone.

“No shot that we can dominate off talent alone. No team does that,” said Stevens after his team's second loss of the preseason against the Cleveland Cavaliers. “You have to play together, you have to play the right way. If you have really good players and they all do that, then you can have a special year.”

The Celtics lost the preseason opener against the Charlotte Hornets, then lost once again on Tuesday against the Cleveland Cavaliers, this time playing without their best player in Kyrie Irving, who was out resting.

While Boston clearly has one of the best-built rosters from top to bottom, Stevens will have to orchestrate it and make it work — giving the right players the right minutes without sacrificing chemistry or camaraderie between the players.

Part of the togetherness hinges on the culture imposed by coach Stevens and president Danny Ainge, but the rest is on the players to harness and build together throughout the season.

Boston will have one more preseason game against the Cavaliers on Saturday before they wrap up their preseason and gear toward their season-opener against the Philadelphia 76ers on Oct. 16.
