Despite rumors emerging pertaining to Kyrie Irving's desire to jump ship this summer, Boston Celtics president Danny Ainge remains confident that the All-Star guard will remain with the team for the foreseeable future.

In a recent interview, Ainge expressed his belief that Irving has every intention to re-sign with the team, and even used a wedding analogy to belabor his point:

Prior to the start of this season, Irving publicly announced his intention to sign an extension with the Celtics this coming summer. However, that statement now feels like an eternity away, and with so much going on with Irving right now, we are no longer sure if he intends to keep his word.

Ainge, on the other hand, is banking on Irving's verbal commitment. As he expressed, he and his superstar point guard are in constant communication, and there has been no indication of Irving's intentions of signing with another team once he becomes a free agent in the offseason.

Then again, there have been several reports linking Irving to a potential move to the New York Knicks. With the Kristaps Porzingis trade, the Knicks cleared a ton of cap space, and the possibility of a Kevin Durant-Kyrie Irving partnership in The Big Apple next season has been discussed. The team is also in the running to scoop up Zion Williamson in the upcoming draft, so that might just be the extra motivation Irving needs.

Nevertheless, Irving remains a Celtic, and based on Ainge's statement here, the Boston faithful have nothing to worry about.
