Boston Celtics center Enes Kanter has a simple message for viewers at home concerned about the spread of the coronavirus: wash your hands.

The 6-foot-10 big man for the Eastern Conference club wrote “WASH HANDS” on the side of his kicks before Tuesday's matchup between the Celtics and the Pacers in Indiana.

Kanter, 27, shared a photo of his Nike sneakers on social media, captioning the tweet with “Very important message!!”.

Kanter signed a two-year, $10 million contract with the Celtics in the summer after splitting his time with the New York Knicks and Portland Trail Blazers during the 2018-19 NBA season. The Turkish center has mostly come off the bench for Boston, though, averaging 8.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game in 50 appearances, shooting 56.8 percent from the field and 71.6 percent from the free throw line.

Kanter has become a wise guy on social media in the past several years, using his official Twitter account as a platform for his jokes and witticisms, including drawing the ire of Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who has waged a war against the embattled NBA center for quite some time now due to Kanter's outspoken opposition against the foreign leader. In the summer of 2017, Kanter was briefly stuck in a European airport while his passport was revoked by the Turkish government. Kanter later found asylum in the United States, and in the last year detailed a plan to become a U.S. citizen.

Kanter's cheeky humor is a reminder for NBA fans and viewers to practice good hygiene in the face of the spreading coronavirus, which has taken over the lives of thousands across the U.S. and the world battling the disease.
