Tonight at TD Garden in Boston, the Boston Celtics, with legends Larry Bird and Bill Russell, honored many Celtics greats as a part of their 75th-anniversary celebration.

In addition to tonight's “Welcome Home” celebration, the team recently announced the roster for its 75th Anniversary All-Celtics team, headlined by Larry Bird and Bill Russell. Both Celtics legends would chime in on tonight's festivities.

Bird would go on to say “It is with great gratitude that I congratulate the Boston Celtics on their 75th anniverary. Having been with you for 13 of those amazing years, I know all of the hard work, dedication, and passion that has gone into reaching this great accomplishment. I also know it could not have been possible without the complete support of our amazing fans. My thanks and congratulations to them, as well.”

Bill Russell also sent a heartfelt message via Twitter, where he said “I am honored to be among so many Celtics on the NBA 75th anniversary team. I am proud to have won 11 NBA titles in my 13 years with the Celtics.” Russell was unable to be in attendance at tonight's celebration, but assured Celtics fans everywhere that he was there in spirit.

Joining Larry Bird and Bill Russell on the All-Celtics team were Kevin Garnett, Kevin McHale, Sam Jones, Dennis Johnson, Paul Pierce, John Havlicek, Bob Cousy, Tommy Heinsohn, Robert Parish, Dave Cowens, Bill Sharman, Jo Jo White, and Ray Allen. The 15-man roster was selected via thousands of votes cast by fans and an official voting panel that included both media members and Boston Celtics historians per NBA.com.
