Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic had some tall praise for Jaylen Brown, who defended him the majority of the game during Monday's game against the Boston Celtics. Doncic put up 34 points, but he had to work for every one of them, along with his six rebounds, and nine assists — as Brown competed at both ends of the floor tirelessly.

“He's a great player and he's a two-way player,” Doncic said of Brown after taking a 116-106 loss at the hands of the Celtics, according to Brian Robb of The Boston Sports Journal. “He can play really good defense and really good offense. He's a great pick up by the Celtics… he deserves the contract he got.”

Brown was signed to a sizable four-year, $107 million extension of his rookie contract last month, giving him the peace of mind necessary to suit up in his fourth NBA season after a share of rollercoaster moments in 2018-19.

The Cal standout was locked in on Monday, dropping 25 points on a sturdy 9-of-16 shooting, along with 11 rebounds and three assists, making up for a ghastly night from Jayson Tatum (five points, 1-of-18 shooting) and the loss of Gordon Hayward, who will be out for a while after undergoing hand surgery.

Brown is quickly showing he has two-way potential due to his athleticism and his improved shot-making ability. If he can keep up this pace for a whole season, the front office will be plenty glad of the investment it made in October.
