The Boston Celtics lost a golden opportunity to go up 3-1 against the Golden State Warriors. Former rival and Los Angeles Lakers icon Magic Johnson claims he knows why.
According to Magic, the Celtics tried to outshoot their opponent that features the greatest shooter of all time.
The Celtics must have thought they were a better three-point shooting team than the Warriors because in the last 6 minutes, every shot was a three pointer, AND they kept missing. That’s why they lost!

Even the most die-hard of Celtics fans would have trouble arguing against Magic Johnson’s point. Boston took 13 three-pointers in the fourth quarter compared to just seven attempts from the Warriors.
In the last six minutes of the game, eight of their 10 attempts from the field were taken from beyond the arc, connecting on just two of them. Even off second chances when they snagged the offensive rebound, their two O-rebs resulted in kick-outs for three rather than an inside putback.
There’s no denying that a good look for a three-pointer is as efficient as it comes in a modern-day offense. But if the shot isn’t falling during a critical stretch of the game, the team needs to recalibrate and find other ways to score.
