The Boston Celtics are continuing to improve their roster, and have signed free agent Shane Larkin on Monday to give them more options in their guard rotation. Details of the deal were not disclosed per team policy.

The 24-year-old Miami product was the 18th overall pick in the 2013 draft by the Atlanta Hawks, but his rights were quickly dealt to the Dallas Mavericks on draft night. He played three seasons in the NBA before spending last year in Europe with Baskonia of the Spanish ACB. He was able to showcase his improved skillset, and averaged 13.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 1.3 steals per game, and was even named the league’s player of the month back in February.

His addition to the C’s will give the team more depth at the point guard spot, especially after waiving Demetrius Jackson earlier this month. Larkin is expected to be a third-string floor general for the team.

After bouncing around the league and even being forced to play overseas, Larkin hopes he can find a home with the Celtics and become a fixture in their lineup. However, should the team feels he needs more work done, he can be assigned to the G-League, where he can further improve his game, before being called up as the Celtics deem fit.
